Tim Tianqi Zhang - President 总裁

President

Tim is currently a Senior at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, majoring in Finance and Computer Science. Prior to attending Northeastern, Tim attended high school in Georgia and studied abroad at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. These experiences gave him a deeper understanding of cultural differences, and he learned how to make meaningful connections with people coming from various backgrounds.  

In 2018, influenced by the other Chapters in Boston, Tim established the GCC’s Northeastern chapter. Under Tim’s leadership, GCC’s Northeastern Chapter became one of the most active chapters, regularly hosting well-attended events. In 2019, Tim and his team co-hosted the GCC Boston Summit, in collaboration with other chapters in the Boston region. In the past academic year, Tim also served as a technology associate in GCC’s Global Team, helping to pilot GCC’s IT transformation. 

Apart from GCC, Tim also worked in Sales and Technology departments of two high-tech companies. In school, Tim is involved in Unicef, Fashion Society, Real estate club, Team Triathlon, Team Taekwondo. Outside of school, Tim is an active member of the Boston Judo Club. During his free time, he likes to try different sports, read, and hangout with friends.

Jerry Yihong Zhang-VP of Development and Outreach

Yihong (Jerry) Zhang is currently a senior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Computer Science and Economics, with a minor in Financial Economics. Since joining GCC as a freshman, he has been able to actively pursue his passion in US-China relations. From 2018-2019, he served as the co-president at the Johns Hopkins chapter. During his tenure as president, Jerry initiated speaker series to provide open forums for students and professionals to network and discuss current topics related to US-China.

Jerry had previous internship experience in investment banking, hedge fund, and private equity. Most recently, he interned at Morgan Stanley Hong Kong office as an investment banking summer analyst in 2020.

In addition to GCC, Jerry served as an international student ambassador at his university and has been actively involved in his university's parliamentary debate team. During his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading books and working out.

Ze Ou– VP of Technology

Ze Ou is a senior at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Computer Science. Ze is born and raised in Hainan, China, and lived in Los Angeles for three years prior to attending college. The cross-cultural experiences have made him aware of the importance of mutual communication and respect, and he is dedicated to facilitating a stronger tie between China and the United States.

Ze joined the GCC Johns Hopkins Chapter the spring semester of his freshman year and has served on the executive board ever since, including co-president from 2019-2020. During his time on the executive board, Ze has helped organize and initiate large events like health tech forum and continuous speaker series on US-China relationships. He also worked on improving GCC's relationship with JHU's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and GCC's presence on campus.

Outside of GCC, Ze is also involved in volunteering, research, and pre-med mentoring. Ze frequently volunteers at a local organic farm and helped found a herbal medicine club. He also conducts biomedical research in the field of neuroprosthetics, specifically sensory feedback to upper-limb amputees. Furthermore, he is also one of the chiefs of the Johns Hopkins Neurology Medical Tutorial project, aiming at training the next generation of doctors for the country. After graduation, Ze aspires to be a doctor/scientist and will continue his education in graduate and medical schools.

Holly Xinyi Deng- VP of  Alumni Engagement

Holly is currently a junior at Vanderbilt University, double majoring in Political Science and Economics. She is especially passionate about international relations and bringing social impact to underprivileged communities. 

Hoping to promote Sino-U.S. dialogues, Holly joined GCC Vanderbilt Chapter in 2018 as a freshman and moved to become the Alumni Relations Chair. During her tenure, she expanded the chapter’s alumni network and initiated an Alumni Feature Series, inviting alumni to share their stories and career advice. For the upcoming school year, she will also serve as the Vice President for the Vanderbilt Chapter. GCC has become an incredibly important part of her college experience. 

In addition to GCC, Holly works as a research assistant at Vanderbilt University, focusing on refugee communities in the U.S. and the evolution of international organizations. Her other work experience includes nonprofit consulting and international business consulting. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and outdoor sports.

Isabel Liu - VP of Marketing

Isabel is a senior at Boston University double majoring in Economics and Psychology. She grew up in Beijing and moved to the United States after middle school. The experience of studying abroad at an early age gave her a unique perspective and motivated her to become more culturally aware, as well as to build meaningful relationships between the two countries.

Isabel joined GCC Boston University Chapter during freshman year and has been working on delivering the main message that GCC strives to fulfill through strategic communication and marketing. She helped running and organizing social media platforms during her times at BUGCC, and later on the Global Team. She also created marketing campaigns and developed strategies for expanding GCC's global impact.

In addition to her involvement in GCC, she was also a consulting intern at Deloitte, where she worked with talented individuals and developed strong communication skills. Outside of school, she actively volunteers at local organizations and As VP of Marketing, she looks forward to communicate GCC's mission to a broader audience and establish a strong image.

Jimmy is currently a junior at Tufts University in Medford, MA, double majoring in International Relations & Economics, with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Jimmy served as the GCC Tufts University chapter social chair in his freshman year, and as VP, his sophomore year. While at Tufts GCC, he helped put together numerous social events, mainly mixers with other culture clubs on campus. He also worked closely with marketing chairs and event networking chairs to coordinate preprofessional events, from internship panels to the first alumni luncheon in Tufts GCC’s history.

Jimmy’s work experience includes investment banking and venture capital, as well as non-profit consulting in London. At Tufts, Jimmy sits on the portfolio committee of Tufts Alpha Fund, where he co-manages $250,000 of Tufts University’s endowment fund across a long-only U.S equity portfolio. He also serves as a sector lead for Tufts Financial Group, where he leads weekly teaches-in sessions on financial statement modeling and stock pitches.

In his free time, Jimmy enjoys tennis, snowboarding, and quick work-out. He also likes to spend time at shooting ranges.

Kristina Wang - Secretary

Kristina is a junior at Vanderbilt University double majoring in Economics and HOD (Human and Organizational Development) with a minor in General Music. She grew up in Beijing and went to a private all-girls high school in a small town in Massachusetts, where the sociopolitical landscape was very dissimilar from that of Nashville, and which allowed her to observe and understand the different sides of the U.S. political culture.  

Kristina joined Vanderbilt GCC in the spring semester of her freshman year as a member of the marketing committee, where she helped design the posters and brochures for GCC Vanderbilt’s annual China Forum. Kristina began her service as the finance chair and a member of the e-board in her sophomore year. In addition to finance related responsibilities, she helped out with and in some cases led the organization of various events.

Prior to the pandemic, Kristina also engaged in volunteer activities as part of a co-ed service-oriented fraternity and was working to complete Emergency Medical Responder training. Outside of school, Kristina has work experience in recruitment consulting and plans to attend law school after graduation. In her free time, Kristina enjoys playing sports, traveling, and photography.
