Jason Luo is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Stanford University, focusing on China’s political economy and social scientific methodology. His current research examines economic development and information technology in authoritarian regimes, particularly the impact of governmental use of AI and big data. He also adapts machine learning methods to inform causal inference in social science studies. Outside academia, Jason is active in people and civic exchanges between Mainland China, Taiwan, and the United States. He served as CEO for Global China Connection (GCC) from 2013-2014. He is also a co-founder of the Beijing 706 Youth Space, a leading independent hub for current and public affairs dialogues in today’s China.
