Ze Ou is a senior at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Computer Science. Ze is born and raised in Hainan, China, and lived in Los Angeles for three years prior to attending college. The cross-cultural experiences have made him aware of the importance of mutual communication and respect, and he is dedicated to facilitating a stronger tie between China and the United States.
Ze joined the GCC Johns Hopkins Chapter the spring semester of his freshman year and has served on the executive board ever since, including co-president from 2019-2020. During his time on the executive board, Ze has helped organize and initiate large events like health tech forum and continuous speaker series on US-China relationships. He also worked on improving GCC’s relationship with JHU’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and GCC’s presence on campus.
Outside of GCC, Ze is also involved in volunteering, research, and pre-med mentoring. Ze frequently volunteers at a local organic farm and helped found a herbal medicine club. He also conducts biomedical research in the field of neuroprosthetics, specifically sensory feedback to upper-limb amputees. Furthermore, he is also one of the chiefs of the Johns Hopkins Neurology Medical Tutorial project, aiming at training the next generation of doctors for the country. After graduation, Ze aspires to be a doctor/scientist and will continue his education in graduate and medical schools.
