We live in a divided country, in a fracturing world. Abortion, gun rights, same-sex marriage, the role of central authtority in our communities, the necessity of curbs on corporate power, environmental protection and sustainability. These issues elicit strong feelings and cut deeply through the electorate. Propaganda and algorithms put us in “filter bubbles” and reinforce our bias. The need for transparency is greater than ever.
This initiative intends to bridge the division by presenting different sides of the issue through an honest and unbiased lens. Our members will do 1-on-1 sit-in interviews with experts located in DC to discuss the selected issues, and afterwards we will post the interview online. You will choose your own topic and determine the format of the interview. Other examples of topics include: #immigration, #racism, #poverty, #education, #climatechange, #feminism, #geoplitics, #economy, #technology and etc.
What you will gain from this initiative:
-A chance to improve your outreach and networking skills
-Consistent face-to-face opportunities with high-profile individuals
-Exploring places that are not open to the public
-Obtaining an additional alumni network that connects you to thousands of students world-wide
-Develop connections with interested and like-minded peers who are passionate about creating change
