Peter Huang is currently a sophomore student majoring in International Studies and Economics at Johns Hopkins University. Having to be nurtured and raised in both Canada and China for fairly an equal amount of time, Peter likes to refer to himself as the best of both worlds. Indeed, his Chinese-Canadian identity – and his love and gratitude for both of these countries that he calls home – has made him determined to pursue a career in external affairs and diplomacy. With an interest in Sino-Canadian relations & US-China relations, Peter hopes to contribute his part in the preservation and continuance of the special bilateral relations between Canada and China while finding new ways to promote Canadian values and leadership in the global theatre. Starting on the grass root level, Peter joined the JHU Chapter of GCC during his freshman year.
Previously, Peter has interned at the GWC Inc. based in Beijing, China, who hosts the Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) – Asia’s largest and most influential technology conference series. Currently, Peter is serving as a regional research lead in the Vanguard Trans-Pacific Relations Student Think Tank, where he and his research fellows engage in the production of monthly editorials, Op-Eds, and Research Projects over the political issues and phenomenons found in the Americas region. At Johns Hopkins, Peter is a contributor of the International Student Leadership Council’s Foreign Affairs Review and a member of the JHU Chinese Basketball Team and the JHU Men’s Club Rugby Team.
In his free time, Peter enjoys playing sports such as soccer, basketball, and rugby, working out, listening to music, and go traveling with friends.
GCC’s mission strongly resonates with what Peter’s aspirations and beliefs. And thus, as an associate of Development and Outreach on the GCC Global Team, Peter hopes to use his international experience to help pave the way for dialogue and understanding among student leaders worldwide.
