This panel will explore the role of private entrepreneurship in China’s national economic growth. What role do cultural and demographic factors play in the development of an entrepreneurship culture? As state-owned enterprises privatize and allow for private entrepreneurship to take a bigger role in various industries, what role will entrepreneurship play in determining China’s economic prospects?

A decade ago, few professionals in China had heard of terms such as venture capital and private equity. In recent years, however, activity in both areas of investment has boomed. Success, however, can bring new problems. Are venture capitalists and private equity groups able to secure permission to close deals in China because of the regulatory environment? How does a foreign firm navigate through some of the difficulties in China?
